• John A. Logan College traditionally has one of the lowest tuition rates in Illinois — currently $92 per credit hour for local students.
• The city’s $40 million Superblock project, included new, state-of-the-art middle school and high school facilities, finished in 2003.  In addition, for 2012 the Carbondale Park District has received a $2.5 million dollar grant from the U.S. Department of Natural Resources to go towards the construction of this facility. Highlights from the "Saluki Way" Project include:

• Morris Library, recently underwent a $64 million renovation and 50,000-square-foot expansion.
• Major renovations and technology upgrades have improved the learning environment in 16 auditoriums and 50 classrooms.
• Upgrades to campus buildings totaling $100 million will take place over the next 10 years.
• Saluki Way is transforming a portion of our campus with construction of a new football stadium and major renovations to the SIU Arena, home to the men’s and women’s basketball teams.
