Carbondale's Historic Dairy Queen Located on the Strip
According to Illinois.com it's the last original outdoor DQ in existence. The Dairy Queen in Carbondale opened in the summer of 1951 and holds a steadfast following from early spring to late fall. 
 

 

 

 

SPECIAL REVENUE FUNDS

Special Revenue Funds are used to account for the proceeds of specific revenue sources (other than debt service, expendable trusts, or community investment program funds) that are legally restricted to expenditures for specified purposes.

The Motor Fuel Tax Fund accounts for motor fuel tax allocations from the State of Illinois for street maintenance, major street construction and traffic signal community investment programs as approved by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Tax Increment Fund accounts for financial transactions related to the City’s Tax Increment Finance Redevelopment Project Area No. 1. Eligible costs include reimbursements to private developers as approved by the City council through redevelopment agreements and public improvements within the project area. Property tax revenues along with General Fund contributions are the major sources of revenue for this fund.

The Child Care Services Fund provides day care services to enable parents to work or attend school. The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, along with other intergovernmental revenues, are the major sources of revenue for this fund. The General Fund also contributes to the Child Care Program.
