Carbondale Fire Department Chill Out at the Park
Carbondale has been named Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation to honor its commitment to community forestry. It is the 28th consecutive year Carbondale has received this national recognition. The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the National Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service. Carbondale has met the four standards to become a Tree City USA community: a tree board or department, a tree care ordinance, a comprehensive community forestry program, and an Arbor Day observance.

 

 

GENERAL FUND

The General Fund accounts for all revenues and expenditures used to finance the traditional services associated with the municipal government which are not accounted for in other funds. In Carbondale these services include general government, public safety, development services, public works, and community services. Capital equipment and economic development debt service expenditures and transfers to other funds are accounted for in this fund. The primary revenue sources for this fund are sales and service (utility) taxes, and intergovernmental revenues, such as Illinois income tax and corporate replacement taxes.
