Carbondale Convention and Tourism Bureau

The Carbondale City Council has an agreement with the Carbondale Convention Tourism Bureau, which allows the Mayor to appoint eight members of the sixteen-member Tourism Board of Directors. The appointments shall be made by the Mayor with the consent of the City Council. The Mayoral appointed members are to represent the following industry categories: Hotel; Restaurant; Tourism Attraction; Southern Illinois University and a General At-Large community member. Additionally, the Mayor shall appoint three member to represent the City of Carbondale, two of which reside within the city limits and one of which is a member of the City Council. The Mayor shall also serve as an ex-officio member. The terms of appointment shall be three years, beginning on the first day of the Carbondale Convention and Tourism Bureau's fiscal year (May 1).
