CARBONDALE FIRE DEPARTMENT ENCOURAGES RESIDENTS TO HAVE WORKING SMOKE ALARMS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CARBONDALE –
As you deck the halls, the Carbondale Fire Department wants to remind residents to practice fire safety this holiday season.
Things such as Christmas trees and other decorations, decorative lighting, increased use of extension cords and wrapped presents are all possible ignition sources for a fire.
With the extra fire hazards this time of year, it’s important to have working smoke alarms in your home. Check your smoke detectors at least once a month and make sure batteries are changed twice a year.
The Carbondale Fire Department has put out two house fires in the last five days where occupants were alerted to the fire, thanks to the use of smoke alarms.
If you have questions or would like more information, contact the Carbondale Fire Department Administrative Office at (618) 457-3234.
