CARBONDALE – Southern Illinois University Carbondale will host the Student Steel Bridge Competition (SSBC) National Finals 2019, May 31- June 1.
More than 400 college students from across the country will be in Carbondale competing. The competition is organized by the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC). The competition will bring together the winning teams of 18 Regional Events from across the country. All of the teams have designed and fabricated steel bridges which they will build and load at the competition.
Bridge Aesthetics will be held on Friday, May 31 from 2:15 p.m.-4:30 p.m. by the Arena steps. There will be food trucks at the event from 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The Bridge Competition will follow on Saturday, June 1 from 8 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. inside the Arena. Both events are free and open to the public.
